The 3 best pumpkin farms around Vienna

Autumn will be here again soon! And what’s better than getting into the new season with a visit to a pumpkin farm?
Unfortunately, there aren’t too many pumpkin farms near Vienna, but I’ve picked out my three personal favorites for you. In this post, you’ll find everything you need to know before your visit and what to expect there: from opening hours and entrance fees to things you can do and how to get there.
All the photos are from last year, so the decorations might look a little different this year. As soon as the pumpkin farms open, I’ll visit them and update the pictures, so you’ll have the latest impressions!
Kürbishof Franzlbauer

What to expect at Kürbishof Franzlbauer?
Every year, the barn at Franzlbauer is lovingly decorated with pumpkins. A huge pumpkin pyramid and a pumpkin sun always welcome you warmly. The “Franzl-Bar” completely adorned with small pumpkins, is a real eye-catcher and the perfect photo spot! The pumpkin alligator, which has become a tradition, must also be in my annual photo. The Hascher family, who runs the farm, always comes up with something great!

In the courtyard, you’ll find stalls selling a wide variety of pumpkins. Especially handy: the cooking pumpkins come with instructions on how to prepare them, which is very useful if, like me, you’re not always sure what to do with them. In addition to pumpkins, there are also many other regional products like vegetables, apple juice, watermelons and homemade jams. Of course, various pumpkin products such as pumpkin seeds, pumpkin seed oil and pumpkin jam are also available.

In the large barn, there’s a pumpkin exhibition with about 400 different types of pumpkins! I was totally surprised that there are so many different kinds. On weekends, pumpkin treats are served from 12 p.m., but I haven’t tried them yet as I’ve always visited during the week to enjoy the pumpkin farm in peace.
Even younger visitors are sure to have a great time here, as in addition to the pumpkin-themed attractions, they can also try out jumping in hay bales.
MY TIP: If you have time, visit Franzlbauer during the week. It can get quite crowded on weekends.
A few useful details about opening hours, directions, etc.

Entry to the pumpkin farm is free.
Hay jumping costs €2.

- OPENING HOURS
The pumpkin exhibition is open from September 6 to October 31, 2025 daily between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The farm is generally open year-round (Monday – Saturday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.).
- HOW TO GET TO KÜRBISHOF FRANZLBAUER
Address: Haselbacherstraße 39, 3413 Hintersdorf
The easiest way to get to Franzlbauer is by car: the pumpkin farm is only about 20 minutes from the Vienna city limits, and there is a large parking lot a few meters past the farm.
The farm is also accessible by public transportation: Subway U4 to Heiligenstadt, then Bus 142 (only on weekdays) or 400 to Maria Gugging ISTA, from there about a half-hour walk or Bus 405 to Haselbach im Hanger. Bus intervals can be quite long, and Bus 405 only runs on weekdays. Check the schedules before you go.
- CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Dogs are allowed at the pumpkin farm, but please keep them on a leash. There are also cats in the courtyard and they don’t seem to get along very well with unfamiliar dogs
Kürbishof Wunderlich

What to expect at Kürbishof Wunderlich?
Kürbishof Wunderlich is a true pumpkin paradise, especially for families with children and anyone who loves taking photos with autumn decorations. I discovered the farm just two years ago and was truly amazed by how large and lovingly decorated it is.
There are so many photo opportunities: such as a nostalgic US car, a pumpkin truck, a plane, a barn, a windmill, a pumpkin house and much more, all decorated with hay bales and pumpkins. There are even tripods for your phone, making it easier to take your autumn photos. The barn is also lovingly decorated, and you can find autumnal photo spots everywhere. But I think I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves here.

Young visitors are especially well-catered for: in the straw fort, the corn bath, in playhouses and with games like can tossing, with a real tractor, milking “cows” and plenty of space to run around, kids can really let loose. And I found the hay Minions to be really cute too.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a pumpkin farm if you couldn’t also buy a lot of pumpkins. Just grab one of the carts and choose the right pumpkin for you, whether for autumn decorating, carving, or eating. They have over 100 types of pumpkin there. In the small shop right at the entrance, you’ll also find strawberries, apples, pumpkin seed oil, jams, and various sparkling wines like pumpkin or apple.

If you are hungry , you can grab a bite at the food trucks, with pumpkin soup, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cake, pumpkin spice lattes and more. This year the food trucks are open every day. From September 10, you can also carve your pumpkins on-site! Just pick out a pumpkin, head over to the pumpkin carving station, pay your pumpkin (only cash!) and borrow some carving tools and then you can get started with the carving!

- HOW TO GET TO KÜRBISHOF WUNDERLICH
Address: Near Stockerau on the L14, specifically between Stockerau and Hausleiten (Ahragartensiedlung)
By car: Easily accessible near Stockerau, just enter “Erdbeerhof Wunderlich Stockerau” into your GPS. There is a free parking lot right opposite the farm.
By public transport: Bus 841 from Stockerau train station to Ahragartensiedlung – but note: only Monday to Friday and only four times a day (10:58, 12:50, 14:15, 16:45, 17:35, and return at 13:35, 16:30, and 18:27).
- CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Dogs are not allowed at the pumpkin farm. But this year they are having a “dogs weekend” between October 31 and November 2.
MY TIP: Kürbishof Wunderlich is the only one of its kind in the area around Vienna and is thus very popular. Plan your visit during the week to avoid the crowds!
Kürbisranch Asperhofen

What to expect at Kürbisranch Klingenbrunner/Asperhofen?
The Kürbisranch Asperhofen is smaller than the other pumpkin farms I’ve visited, but that’s exactly what gives it a special charm. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, it’s the perfect place to just unwind. Even the entrance area is lovingly decorated, and although there aren’t any huge pumpkin figures, everything is beautifully arranged.

I love strolling through the rows of pumpkins and picking the most beautiful one for my autumn decorations at home. The pumpkin ranch offers a wide variety of pumpkins, for cooking, carving, or decorating. Especially handy: some pumpkin varieties come with recipe suggestions, some of which I’ve tried and I can say they were absolutely delicious!

In the small farm shop, you’ll find not only pumpkins but also other regional products like pumpkin seed oil, jams, juices, and fresh apples. What really makes this place special is the cozy terrace. Here, you can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with a glass of “Sturm” (young wine), fresh grape juice, or a slice of lard bread.

Last year, the pumpkin ranch embraced its artistic side, and as you wander among the pumpkins, you’ll come across various paintings and let’s just say, some rather unique art installations. While I didn’t think this charming farm really needed those additions, I still enjoyed my visit overall.
A few useful details about opening hours, directions, etc.
- PRICES
Entry to the pumpkin ranch is free.
- OPENING HOURS
You can visit the pumpkin ranch Monday and Wednesday to Sunday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m and it’s open from 2.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays. Usually it opens around September 10, so I assume it will be the same this year.
- HOW TO GET TO KÜRBISRANCH KLINGENBRUNNER
Address: Kürbisranch Asperhofen/Klingenbrunner, Johannesgasse 9, 3041 Asperhofen
By car: Enter Johannesgasse 9, Asperhofen into your GPS rather than just “Kürbisranch” to find the exact entrance.
By public transport: Railjet, for example, from Vienna Main Station to Tullnerfeld, then transfer to Bus 442 to Asperhofen Kirchenplatz, from there it’s about a 5-minute walk to the pumpkin ranch.
