Events in Vienna in March 2026
Do you feel the same? There’s something about warmer days and a bit more sunshine that instantly makes me want to get out more and make plans again. That’s why I’m starting a new series on the blog this March: my monthly event guide for Vienna. From now on, you’ll find a selection of different events in Vienna here every month as inspiration. And since March can still be anything from winter to spring, this time you’ll find not only Easter markets and sports events, but also plenty of indoor events.
So here it is, my monthly guide for Vienna in March 2026. Have fun clicking through and trying things out!
Easter Markets in March 2026 in Vienna
I really love the Easter markets in Vienna, especially because of their beautiful settings, like Schönbrunn Palace or the historic buildings around Freyung. In March, the markets finally open their stalls again, hopefully with proper spring weather this year.
Altwiener Easter Market Freyung
March 20 to April 6, 2026

The Easter market on this beautiful square may be small, but it’s truly charming. My absolute favorite part is the huge mountain of thousands of hand-painted Easter eggs in all colors and patterns. It has become a little tradition for me to buy one egg for my collection every year. I really love the market and its cozy atmosphere.
WHEN:
Friday, March 20 – Monday, April 6, 2026
daily 10 am – 8 pm
WHERE:
Freyung, 1010 Vienna
ADMISSION:
free
HIGHLIGHTS:
Europe’s largest Easter egg mountain, arts and crafts stands, culinary specialties, Easter craft workshop, music and children’s program
MY TIP:
Just a few steps away, at Am Hof, you’ll find another Easter market, and there are also several beautiful sights around Freyung worth visiting, such as Palais Ferstel or Palais Kinsky.
Easter and Spring Market Schönbrunn
March 25 to April 19, 2026

The Easter market in front of Schönbrunn Palace also opens again in March and this year, as a spring market, it will even remain open beyond Easter. I especially love the decorations like the giant Easter egg or the Easter egg entrance, and of course the stunning setting in front of the palace. And a ride on the Ferris wheel overlooking Schönbrunn is always such a beautiful experience.
WHEN:
Wednesday, March 25 – Sunday, April 19, 2026
daily 10 am – 7 pm
WHERE:
Schönbrunn Palace Ehrenhof, Schönbrunner Schloßstraße, 1130 Vienna
ADMISSION:
free
HIGHLIGHTS:
Many attractions for children, Ferris wheel, craft workshop, beautiful palace setting
MY TIP:
I like to combine a visit to the Easter market with a walk through the palace gardens and head up to the Gloriette. From there, you have a really beautiful view over the palace and the gardens, and it’s completely free.
Easter Market am Hof
March 20 to April 6, 2026

Just a few minutes from the Easter market at Freyung, another Easter market takes place at Am Hof. Here you’ll find stalls with arts and crafts, creative gift ideas and culinary specialties. What really makes this one special for me is the surrounding architecture. The buildings around the square are simply stunning.
WHEN:
Friday, March 20 – Monday, April 6, 2026
Monday to Thursday 11 am – 8 pm, food stalls until 9 pm
Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10 am – 8 pm, food stalls until 9 pm
WHERE:
Am Hof, 1010 Vienna
ADMISSION:
free
HIGHLIGHTS:
Dedicated arts and crafts market, many food stalls
MY TIP:
The buildings around the square are absolutely beautiful, so it’s worth taking a little walk around. And in the nearby lanes and squares such as Schulhof or Kurrentgasse, it almost feels like stepping back in time.
Exhibitions in March 2026 in Vienna
Gartenpalais Liechtenstein Special Exhibition
January 30 to April 6, 2026

Every year, the Gartenpalais Liechtenstein opens its doors for a very special exhibition featuring treasures from the princely collection. For me, it has become a fixed date in the calendar, and this year’s visit is definitely worth it. In 2026, the focus is on the history of the European art market, presented in a fascinating way. I can hardly believe every year that entry is free.
WHEN:
January 30 – April 6, 2026, daily 10 am – 6 pm
WHERE:
Gartenpalais Liechtenstein, FĂĽrstengasse 1, 1090 Vienna
ADMISSION:

Artworks from the princely collection and international loans, including pieces by Titian, Monet, Klimt, Rembrandt, etc. Visitors can explore the stunning rooms of the palace, including the Hercules Hall, the library, the grand staircase with ceiling painting, and the golden carriage.

The exhibition is worth visiting because of the beautiful rooms alone. Normally, you can only see them during a guided tour that takes place 2–3 times a month. During the exhibition, you can explore everything at your own pace.
