Events in Vienna in October 2026
When the first leaves start to turn colourful and it slowly gets dark earlier outside, the coziest time of the year in Vienna begins for me. And even though you might not want to spend quite as much time outdoors in October, the city definitely doesn’t get boring.
There are plenty of events happening again in October: from markets and food events to festivals and concerts, plus a few outdoor events as well. I’ve put together a small selection for you here. Have fun exploring!
You can find even more Vienna inspiration on my Instagram channel @lara.kristiin. I’d love to connect with you there!
Special Highlights in Vienna in October 2026
Long Night of Museums
October 3, 2026

WHEN:
Sat, October 3, 2026
6 pm – midnight
WHERE:
Various locations in Vienna and throughout Austria
ADMISSION:
Adults: 19 €
Reduced: 16 €
Children up to 12 years: free admission
WHAT TO EXPECT:
With just one ticket, you can visit countless museums across Austria for one evening. There are special events, additional programmes and, at some museums, programmes for children. The participating venues include major and well-known museums such as the Albertina, the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Belvedere, as well as smaller and lesser-known places such as the Snow Globe Museum or the Chimney Sweep Museum.
MY TIP:
Think beforehand about which museums you would like to see and put together a little route. You can find a list of all participating museums online, and you can also get a booklet with all the information at the participating locations. However, many of the more well-known museums and exhibitions can get quite crowded on this evening, and at some places such as Mythos Mozart or Liechtenstein City Palace, you should expect longer waiting times.
